The Farmer's Glassworks
From 1812-1814, the farmers of the town of Clarksburg formed the Farmer's Glassworks. The Glassworks produced utilitarian goods such as wares, windows and glass. It is unique in that most ventures of this sort were born via industrialists with strong business backgrounds. The company's raw materials were quarried in the neighboring town of Washington. A Farmer's Glasswork window
today still exists in the the town's school library.
