Subject:(no subject)Dear Mr.Rogovoy:
In regards to your negative or should I say disastrous review of Jose Feliciano's concert performance at the National Music Center on August 17, 1996, let me just say that it was a review done in very poor taste. I'm sorry that it has taken me 5 years to stumble upon this review, had I'd seen it long before, I would have answer you right away.
Let me start off by saying that you're entitled to review or critique concerts in your own way, after all I assume that is your job and that is how you make your living, please correct me if I'm wrong. I have been a fan of Mr. Feliciano for 25 years and I consider myself to be a personal friend of his. What you said that Mr. Feliciano's time has passed and that he no longer is a big concert draw; I would like to set you straight on something if I may. Jose Feliciano has been and still is one of the greatest performers in the music business, I dont think you havent been paying close attention to his career in the last few years, Jose is a bigger concert draw now than he ever was. His last world tour can confirm what I'm saying. His concerts were all sold out in a matter of hours. He has performed in the biggest venues drawing SRO(standing room only) crowds in almost every city, state or country he has performed in the last 5 years.
I was very upset when you said that Jose was making fun of Stevie Wonder at one point in the show. Mr.Rogovoy, it is clear to me from your review and the way that you express yourself about him that you have no idea what Jose Feliciano is all about. Its a real shame though, its really too bad that you can recognize when you're in the presence of greatness of a true music genius. Let me remind you sir, in case you havent gotten your facts straight that Jose Feliciano was the very first latin artist to make the famous crossover to the English language market. He has been the only artist ever to reach the top of the charts with his rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner". He was the first to stylize it when that was not even in fashion to do.
I really hope that the next time you review a concert by this living legend, you'll be able to do 100% better than what you did on August 17, 1996. I unfortunately was not there to see the concert, although I didn't have to be. All of Mr.Feliciano's live performances are truly exceptional, remarkable and extraordinary. Very few artists (I cant think of any actually) that can rival his extraordinary talent. He is a true gem, a diamond if you will. Let me assure you that Jose has never received a bad review in his entire illustrious career which he is now celebrating 35 years in the music business. Except the review that you gave him of course (how can I forget).
Jose Feliciano is an artist that everything that he touches turns to Gold or Platinum. He has recorded 68 wonderful albums in his extraordinary career and every single album has either gone Gold or Platinum each and everyone of them selling over 1 million copies, and you dare to say that his time has passed (think again). He is also one of the nicest individuals that I've had the pleasure of meeting. Not only is he nice but he is down to earth and very simple, no star attitude here. Yet he's a star, a legend that will remain forever #1 in the hearts of his millions of fans around the world. I do hope that you have learn your lesson. Please sir, dont go saying negative things about this extraordinary entertainer. He has worked too hard all his life this, nobody gave him anything you know. His amazing success has been earned the hard way and no one in the world deserves it more than him. All the other music stars need all kinds of extravagant scenery and lights to put on a half and yet mediocre show. Instead we have Jose Feliciano who doesn't need any of that. His talent is pure and beautiful and he can illuminate any stage in the world with just his guitar. I do hope to hear from you, I would like very much what you have to say about me defending my hero, idol and friend.
Sincerely,
Carlos Rodriguez
