Subject: Your ArticleI grew up in North Adams and now live in Culpeper, Va. I have experienced some of the happenings you mention in your article. I was born in Biddeford Me. and spent a great amount of time in the areas of Maine you refer to. I married a Southern lady, D.A.R.,U.D.C. who always questions my desire to return to the New England area when all I do is complain about the cost, traffic, roads( lack of) and other small things like campgrounds that charge twice as much as any where else and yet are not wide enough to extend your slideout. We also enjoy hotdog stands from Maine to Florida, Arbetters in Coco, Fl., a small stand in Concord, NH. on Rt. 3 across the bridge heading towards Pembroke. Although we travel in a 32' 5th wheel complete with generator, when we were raising six children we experienced the joys as you so aptly described. Now my idea of roughing it is no cable tv. I have hiked all through the Berkshires as a youngster and have returned on various occassions to look around. The first time my wife experianced North Adams she could not get over the way the mountains surrounded the whole town. I am always kidding her about mountain people down here, most of her relatives lived on the Blue Ridge before the relocation in 1937 for the national park . Nice web. Will visit again.
