Brickman deserved better review
To the Berkshire EagleAugust 13, 1997
Seth Rogovoy's description of Jim Brickman's music as "anti-music or music for people who hate music" [Eagle, August 3] is an insult to the large audience of fans who enjoyed and were genuinely moved by such fine and pleasant music. This was evidenced by the standing ovation accorded Jim Brickman and his guest soloist Anne Cochran, which Mr. Rogovoy chose to ignore.
What possible reason could there be for Mr. Rogovoy to have written such unwarranted and negative criticisms? For Berkshire County residents who want to see the National Music Center succeed, such anti-reviews will never attract the artists or financial support so necessary which the Center is working so hard to secure.
When Mr. Rogovoy delivers such mean-spirited reviews, he is certainly not deserving of the title "music critic."
