Brewers' Festival
to be held September 18
To sample fine local and regional brews and ciders, join us on September 18th for the now legendary annual Berkshire Brewers' Festival held for the Fabulous Fifth year at Jiminy Peak. Previous years have showcased more than 30 microbrewery beers, drawing upwards of 1,200 quaffers and this year's edition, from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M., should prove no exception. The event, sponsored by WBEC Live 105.5/ 94.1/ AM1420 and Old Saddleback Brewing will feature the sounds of two of the areas best loved bands, Wishful Thinking at 1 PM and Catfish Blue at 3:30.
Stephanie King, one of the organizers of the event with Live 105.5. is looking forward to the event: "People get very excited about the beers because their quality is so good and because they are different. The flavors, the labels, the styles are all very different. It's fun to see how they all package themselves differently. There's definitely something for everyone," she adds. "Personally, I enjoy the fruit beers and the ciders." So noted, Stephanie.
The Brewery's Paul Fortini described the
physical layout: "It will be great; in the past few years we had to
limit its size; this year, because it's at Jiminy, we have a lot of room
to spread out." He said there will be big tents set up for the brewers,
as well as a wide variety of food available all day, from Ortega, Hebrew
National, Healthy Choice and Jiminy's own BBQ. Due to the nature of the
event, the age to attend is 21 or older.
Tickets for the event cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door. A ticket will buy 10 samples of different beers and free food. Once inside the festival, a person can buy extra samples as well as merchandise available for sale.
