Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art - the museum promotes collaborations between non-profit content creators and for-profit production and distribution companies to encourage sophisticated documentation, archiving, and marketing of visual and performing arts 'software.' Phase I, which comprises 190,000 square feet of space and was completed in 1998, includes art galleries, performing arts facilities, rehearsal spaces, office spaces, fabrication facilities, live studio space for artists-in-residence, pre- and post-production facilities for multi-track audio, video, and film, restaurants, cafes, and retail shops.


McLennan Reservation - The Trustees of Reservations is dedicated to preserving properties of exceptional scenic, historic and ecological value throughout the Commonwealth. Founded in 1891, it is a non-profit conservation organization and relies for support entirely upon membership dues, admission fees and voluntary contributions. McLennan Reservation, one of the 82 properties of The Trustees of Reservations, is a National Historic Landmark.

Herman Melville - It was at Arrowhead that Melville wrote his most famous work, Moby-Dick, along with three other novels, Pierre, The Confidence-Man, and Israel Potter, a collection of short stories entitled The Piazza Tales, all of his magazine stories, and some of his poetry.

Miss Hall's School - Located in the heart of the Berkshire Hills in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Miss Hall's School is a private college preparatory boarding and day school for girls in grades 9-12.

Mission House - John Sergeant, first missionary to the Stockbridge Indians, built this simple frame house for his bride, Abigail, in 1739. According to legend, its striking Connecticut doorway was brought to Stockbridge by ox-team over a wilderness trail.

Mohawk Trail - Built at a cost of $368,000 and was formally opened Oct. 27, 1914. The road forms the connecting link of the State highway from Boston to New York and the West and opens to automobilists a section of the beautiful parts of the Berkshire Hills, which were up to this time, inaccessible on account of the heavy grades.

Monument Mountain - The mountain is 1,735 feet at its peak, overlooking the hills and valleys of southern Berkshire County. Three miles of trails lead through the canopy forest of white pine and oaks with tulip trees, maples, chestnut saplings and mountain laurel. Rock outcrops hide small caves and several streams wind through the forest.

The Mount (Edith Wharton Restoration) - located in Lenox, Massachusetts was designed and built by Wharton in 1901-02 as an architectural expression of the order, scale, and harmony that she advocated in her first book, The Decoration of Houses (1897), co-authored with architect Ogden Codman. In designing The Mount, Wharton also collaborated with architect Francis L.V. Hoppin and with her niece, landscape gardener Beatrix Farrand.
