Ex Libris at the Lenox Library

The world's tiniest gift shop
When you have as little space as we do, everything has to be perfect.

Nestled in the arms of the library it helps to support is Ex Libris, a gift shop as singular as it is small. Limited space has wonderfully concentrated our imagination; after all, in a jewel box there should be nothing but gems. Naturally, our gifts have a literary bent. But, they are chosen with the serious intent to enliven and amuse.

For example: from the British Royal Academy of Arts, the Edward Lear Owl and Pussycat plate and Limerick mugs; witty greeting cards from Wilde, Darrow, Tom Robbins, et al; Peter, an African-American boy-doll who comes complete with a Caldecott Award-winning book; Mrs. Alfred E. Vanderbilt's cups and tea towels, delicately suggesting that women get the vote. Even the inevitable T-shirt, sweat shirt and tote bag are elegant in design, uniquely Lenox Library. Come see us. If you can't find just the right thing here in five minutes, you're dawdling.

Proceeds from Ex Libris are eligible for matching funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
