Shakespeare's Macbeth
The BCC Players will perform “Macbeth” on November 17, 18, & 19 at 8pm, and November 19 & 20 at 2pm in the Robert Boland Theatre at Berkshire Community College.
To this day Macbeth remains one of Shakespeare’s most popular tragedies. It is the playwright’s shortest play, but arguably his most intense. Macbeth is the story of a warrior who must struggle with fate and his own ambition. He betrays and murders his king, rending the fabric of his society and damning himself and his wife, who is an accomplice in the murder. Having achieved power through assassination, he finds that in order to hold on to it, he must engage in an escalating cycle of violence, betrayal and murder. The “butcher and his fiend-like queen” are among the most intriguing villains in stage history. Shakespeare masterfully combines greed, murder, and lust with a supernatural dimension to create a deliciously dark experience.
