About Schmidt
The Oscar nominations reflect the quality of the work done by the performers in this consistently well-acted story of realistic, interesting characters. Golden Globe awards for Nicholson and for best screenplay demonstrate that this well-written tale is a favorite with viewers as well as reviewers. Simply put, this is a story about a man who discovers something truly unexpected at the end of his rope: life. Schmidt has finally reached retirement and finds himself alone. When his wife unexpectedly passes away, he journeys across the country in an RV to repair the rift with his daughter, just as she is set to marry into an eccentric family. The film's dark comedy serves as the roadway Schmidt follows to discovery. Schmidt's exploration of his own life is an extraordinary portrayal by an actor better known for characters that are the polar opposite of Schmidt. at 7 & 9:15 PM - Matinees: Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2 at 4:30 PM

Chicago
The musical is back. And what a way to reintroduce itself. With murder and sex and all that jazz, Bob Fosse's Chicago has made its way to the big screen with some big stars to do it justice. Fresh from wins at the Golden Globes, Chicago is the story of two starlets who use murder to up their celebrity. Velma Kelley (Zeta-Jones) is hot on the club circuit and increases her fame when she winds up on murderess-row. Slick lawyer Billy Flynn (Gere) makes her case a sensation, but puts it on the back burner when Roxie Hart, (Zellweger) a young up-and-comer, gets herself into some hot water, and he makes her case his number one priority. This is tabloid stuff before Jerry Springer, but remade with its own style and substance. It's great, it's fun, it's a wild ride. at 7 & 9 PM, Matinees: Saturday, March 8; Sunday, March 9; Saturday, March 15; & Sunday, March 16 at 4:30 PM

Max
This controversial film is a favorite of the critics. Though it may offend some, Max paints a portrait of a man who might have become an artist, but instead became the villain of the century. Max is a Jewish art dealer who comes back from World War I with an entrepreneurial spirit. He befriends a young Adolf Hitler and tries to help him develop his art and a career as an artist. It becomes apparent that young Adolf¹s desires are more political than artistic, however, and Max must let him go his own way. This film is an exploration of how Hitler became the character he now known to be, and how a simple flip of the circumstantial switch might have taken the world on an altogether different road leading to a very different history. Bowling for Columbine
Some say that Michael Moore is not an objective documentarian. Who is? In this Oscar-nominated exploration of America¹s fascination with guns and gun-culture, Moore takes a walk through our communities and makes the point that the violence in our society should be no surprise. Our love of guns as a countryfrom cowboys to cops and robbershas made guns accessible to almost everyone. This film will make you think, talk and wonder about our American Way more than any other film to come out this year.
