Tadao Ando: Architect
The winner of the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1995 and the recipient of the 2002 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal, Tadao Ando is one of the most celebrated architects working today. Masterfully reconciling the minimalist vocabulary of modern Western architecture and the environmental sensitivity of Japanese building and garden design, Ando's work relates edifice to landscape in a profoundly spiritual manner. This exhibition, organized by the Saint Louis Art Museum, surveys Ando's work of the past thirty years.
