The Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization, which has been celebrating and interpreting railroading in the Berkshires for fifteen years. The museum is located in the restored 1903 Lenox Station that once saw frequent train service to and from New York. Built by the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad, it is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition to railroad artifacts exhibited in the museum, the Berkshire Scenic's collection includes three diesel locomotives, five passenger cars, two cabooses and a boxcar. Diesel switcher #67 and one coach make up the Short Shuttle and visitors can climb into New Haven caboose #C-591 to get a sense of freight railroading in the '40s.
