Referred to by some skiers as "the best mountain in all of Massachusetts", Jiminy Peak has 33 trails, (one nearly 11,000 feet long)! Jiminy Peak covers over 157 acres for Alpine and Cross-country skiers as well as snowboarders to enjoy a beautiful setting with a wide variety of terrains. Jiminy features a dizzying vertical drop of 1,140 feet, four chair lifts (eight lifts in total) and the very first quad chair in Massachusetts. Sixteen of the trails are lighted for excellent night skiing.

Two winters ago Jiminy Peak officially opened its new mountain, Widow White's peak, making Jiminy the largest ski resort in southern New England, and with its acquisition of Brodie Mountain it offers 80 trails and 15 lifts in an Interchangeable Lift Ticket Package!

Widow White's Peak adds 30 percent more terrain, a wider variety of trails for every level of skier or snowboarder and a new quad chairlift to the already first-class facility. The Widow White's expansion and the merge with Brodie are just the first part of a planned $10 million, ten year, expansion which calls for more lifts, additional snowmaking and further real estate development!

Last year's ski season brought the addition of Hendrick's Lodge, the only summit lodge at a ski area in the region, where weary and cold, a person can refresh themselves and gear up for more Jiminy fun and sport. Hendrick's will house food services and rest rooms, and will be open in the summer as well as during the ski season. Check out the spectacular views from the decks and relax and absorb the beautiful character of the mountain in the natural setting of the lodge.

Noted for being especially friendly to snowboards, Jiminy offers knowledgeable, specialized instruction in these latest of snow conquering sports; the dedicated snowboard park has a challenging half pipe and devotees ("shredders") lovingly report "busting big air" at the snowboard park. New this year is the GETskiing, a program using the new short ski technology and revolutionary ski teaching methods.

Another addition to Jiminy, over the last few winters, is a new "Wonder Carpet" lift in the beginner area, which has replaced the Chipmunk rope tow. These conveyor lifts are just like the moving sidewalks you see in airports.

Jiminy rises some 2,400 feet in the air and is open year round for events, functions and plain old fun. When asked what Jiminy offers skiers we were told; Jiminy is not just a ski area, but is "a real destination for people, let them experience a four-season resort and conference center that is fun and satisfying".

Jiminy's array of moguls, cruisers and steeps will keep skiers of all levels interested and challenged, and though skiing is certainly the main winter orientation of Jiminy, there are other factors to consider, including the abundant nearby lodging and the places to dine. These include the Founders Grille, on top of the 150-unit Country Inn, noted not only for the cuisine, but also for being the hub of skiing excitement.

Keep an eye on their web site for updates!
