Certainly one of the best known and popular resorts in Berkshire Country is "Kelly's Irish Alps" at Brodie Mountain Ski Resort located in the Northwest corner of Massachusetts between Williamstown and Pittsfield.

After 35 years of being owned and operated by the Kelly family, Brodie was recently acquired by Jiminy Peak and now offers an Interchangeable Lift Ticket Package that will increase the scope and excitement and upgrade the ski and snowboard experience for all of those travel to ski at Brodie. This package gives visitors 80 trails and 15 lifts to choose from!

This year, as a new feature, Brodie will offer snow tubing every night from Wednesday to Friday, and all day and night on weekends and holidays. Tubing does not require the high tech knowledge that its other downhill cousins require; for tubing you just sit and slide and ride the rope tow back to the top.

Brodie has the highest skiing mountain in Massachusetts, sure to challenge even the most experienced skier, as the drop is over 1250 vertical feet! This year snowmaking capacity has doubled to ensure incredible skiing and snowboarding!

Brodie Mountain will be open Wednesday through Sunday from mid-December through the end of March. During holiday periods (December 25, 2000 to Jaunaury 1, 2001; January 13 to 15, 2001; February 17 to 25, 2001). There are 40 trails over 18 miles, or over 250 acres of terrain to ski and snowboard. The longest run is over 2.5 miles! With year-round camping available and 25 km of cross-country trails and an onsite Racquet Club the reasons to return are irresistible.

To warm up after exhausting yourself on the slopes and to satisfy the hungry and thirsty, Brodie offers a cafeteria, where the hungry skier can enjoy a wholesome meal "on the fly" or take the time to warm up in the "Blarney Room" that offers a menu of standard favorites.

Brodie offers a number of special events during the season, including unique competitions for snowboarders and "sled dogs" (short, acrobatic skis). Childcare is available and a Catholic Church Service is celebrated on Sundays.

Ask about the classes offered and other special programs for beginners and experienced skiers alike. Bring your gear or rent it at Brodie. One of the important distinctions of Brodie is the Ski Brodie Lodging Service; satisfied guests have noted that it is possible to emerge from one's comfortable quarters, only to be six steps away from one of the two surface or four double chair lifts! Look for both daily and seasonal rates, motels, efficiencies and chalets available. A slightly larger percentage of intermediate trails are featured at Brodie.

Be sure to inquire about 2000 2001 Pre Season - Season Pass Prices, call or go to their website for specifics.
