Music at the Mahaiwe:
Join Berkshire Opera Company at their new home, the Mahaiwe Theatre in Great Barrington, Massachusetts! Be there as they celebrate the beginning of their journey to restore this historic treasure with an evening of your favorite arias and ensembles previewing their exciting 2002 Grand Opening season and seasons to come.

BOC's recent purchase of the Gans Appliance building on Railroad Street in Great Barrington created a unique opportunity to transform this historic structure into a gracious reception hall for our supporters and a year-round art gallery. "The Gallery" officially opens in August with Tim Schantz & Friends, an exhibition featuring Schantz's pastels as well as the works of Brother Thomas and Mark Davis.

Berkshire Opera Company's mission is to help bring world class professional opera to the Berkshires and especially to people who have never been exposed to it before. Now in its 17th year in a brand new location, Berkshire Opera Company.

Founder Rex Hearn singlemindedly created this organization, trying to duplicate the summer festivals of his native Great Britain. Emmy and Peabody-Award winner Sanford Fisher brought in opera performers from all over the world and created some of the most innovative productions in the BOC's history, as well as making the modern and comfortable Koussevitzky Performing Arts Center the company's summer home, offering greater access to the world of the opera.
