Presentation of outstanding service awards to recipients of North, Central, and South Berkshire in Superior Court Chambers. Reception in Superior Court Hearings Room 3. Honorary Chairman Bernard Drew will autograph his book, Berkshire Photos.

WHEREAS, Berkshire County is endowed with a rich, unique and often overlooked heritage of industrial, agricultural, architectural, and cultural achievement currently celebrated in a photographic exhibit at the Silvio 0. Conte Superior Court House, Pittsfield, and

WHEREAS, the Berkshire County Historical Commission, helps our towns catalogue their historical records, and seeks to promote broader awareness of this heritage, and

WHEREAS, Berkshire County has had a regional government for two hundred and thirty-eight years serving the diverse and changing needs of our thirty-two communities, and

WHEREAS, the County is facing the new millennium certain of escalating changes in our local economy and in our regional government but uncertain about the direction these changes win take the county, and

WHEREAS, the Berkshire County Historical Commission, mindful of the importance of knowing where we have been as we chart future courses, has complemented its photograph, exhibit by orchestrating historic awareness events throughout the County during July, and

THEREFORE, WE, the County Commissioners of Berkshire County, do hereby proclaim July as "Berkshire County Heritage Month" and we urge all our citizens and visitors to view the exhibits at the Superior Court House and at the many town libraries, museums, and other local public facilities.
