Berkshire Mountain Music Festival August 10-12, 2001 Butternut Ski Basin, Great Barrington, MA www.berkfest.com 1-888-325-BERK (2375) Last year's 3rd Annual Berkshire Mountain Music Festival had an enviable turnout with young people coming from all over the country to catch the outstanding event that had a spectacular array of talent that kept patrons in the crowd, mesmerized by some of the repertoire going on between the bands onstage. The musical format strays slightly from the traditional bluegrass or folk festival, with a variety of bands performing on five stages; blues, straight and alternative rock, bluegrass and folk all holding their own in one of the most beautiful locations in the Berkshires. You may think Butternut Basin Ski area is beautiful in the winter months, but come enjoy the breathtaking beauty in the summer along with a festival to remember. The Berkshire Mountain Music Festival returns to Butternut Basin Ski Area on Friday, August 10th – Saturday, August 11th and Sunday, August 12, 2001. This, the Fourth Annual Berkfest, promises to be an even better event than last year's successful festival. In past years they featured performances by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Medeski, Martin & Wood, moe., Deep Banana Blackout, Galactic, Femi Kuti, Spearhead, and of course, much, much more. This year's line up is of course different and can be accessed online at www.berkfest.com. Gamelan, a well-respected agency that books, manages and promotes in and around Boston has built the Berkfest in partnership with High Sierra who promotes a similar event in Northern California that is in its Eleventh year. Gamelan looked to High Sierra when building the first Berkfest in 1998, for their years of experience in the outdoor festival arena and to help transport some of that West Coast flavor to the Northeast. Berkshire Mountain Music Festival has gained a reputation for creating a musically delightful gathering in the most beautiful spot in New England. Good idea, for few spots are as lovely as the Butternut Basin Ski Area in Great Barrington, MA. There will be a lot of grooving and jamming and Berkfest guarantees everybody will find something to love. In addition to music and camping, Berkfest offers a variety of activities over the weekend including an arts and crafts fair, food vendors, banjo and DJ workshops and fresh micro-brewed beer tents. Don't miss the movies under the stars, and if you are looking for something special to do late at night, for an additional fee you are invited to attend the Late Night Lodge which runs from 10:00pm to 2:00am on both Friday & Saturday nights. This Berkfest Night Club, as it is fondly referred to, sits on top of a ski slope and will feature yet more quality music (for those who aren't exhausted from the day's roster). There is much more in the offering, but you will just have to come and experience it for yourself.
