Though the entire summer could be thought of as a series of highlights for this internationally acclaimed theater and actors school has some particularly intriguing programs scheduled for this fall, including The Halloween Benefit…nevermore…nevermore and The Fall Festival of Shakespeare

THE HALLOWEEN BENEFIT
Shakespeare and Company is a uniquely diverse cultural institution, but there is a common thread among the many people who participate in its existence: creativity. People are drawn to work with Shakespeare and Co because of the reputation, the setting, the learning and the experience, but mostly because they have something personal and vital to contribute to the arts.

This year you will not want to miss an evening of spine-tingling entertainment that begins in Edith Wharton's horse stable with actors taking turns reading excerpts from the master of literary suspense, Edgar Allan Poe. Starting in the stable, company actors will read from The Raven, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Tell-Tale Heart, and The Pit and the Pendulum, after which you will be lead down the spook-filled, candle-lit path in the chill Berkshire shadows, to the Salon Theatre in The Mount itself, (where there is rumored to be a supernatural presence year round).

If you survive the "spooky walk" you will be treated to hot apple cider and doughnuts with yet another performance to follow. The evening concludes with a critically acclaimed performance of The View Beyond, which is a supernatural adaptation of Edith Wharton's Mrs. Manstey's View and Fullness of Life, written by Richard S. Burdick.

Here is the Spooky Schedule:

Friday, October 20 at 7:30 pm
Saturday, October 21 at 7:30 pm
Thursday, October 26 at 7:30 pm
Friday, October 27 at 7:30 pm
Saturday, October 28 at 7:00 and 9:30 pm
Sunday, October 29 at 7:30 pm
Monday, October 30 at 7:30 pm
Tuesday, October 31 at 7:30 pm
You may want to get your tickets early!

Much later in the season you might be persuaded to come back for THE FALL FESTIVAL OF SHAKESPEARE with all of the youth, beauty wisdom, and courage that has been associated with the legendary author.

If you have ever wanted to experience Shakespeare as it was performed by the Elizabethans, now is the time to bring your rotten tomatoes, (not really), and hold on to your hats as 500 actors from 10 area high schools assault you with their brilliance and bawd.

All performances will be held at Berkshire Community College in the Robert Boland Theatre.

Shakespeare & Co., a uniquely diverse cultural institution, has a common thread among the many people who participate in its existence, and that is creativity. People will be delighted to learn that over the course of the last year Shakespeare & Co. purchased and moved to the old National Music Center site. The property has two theatres, numerous buildings and land for Shakespeare and Company to continue to attract people who are drawn because of the reputation, the setting, the learning and the experience. This will allow the organization to expand to its fullest potential graciously in its own time. For further details, schedules and information about the educational program check out the web site.
