The Berkshire Writers Room holds monthly meetings for writers to share their works-in-progress in the areas of Poetry, Creative Nonfiction, Fiction, Scriptwriting, and Writing for Children. We regularly hold meetings on the commercial aspects of the craft of writing. We publish The Berkshire Review annually. We host frequent open readings throughout Berkshire County and present various other events.

It was a dark and stormy night (or maybe a slippery and sleety morning) when a group of Berkshire writers broke bagels and breathed life into the Berkshire Writers Room. Founded in 1991, it offers support and encouragement to writers of every type and background. Our growing membership includes writers who have been published and those who have not; would-be and professional writers and those who simply write for the pleasure it gives them. We are writers of fiction and nonfiction, poets and playwrights, journalists, technical writers, humorists and eclectics. We meet in small, form-specific groups to share our work, to invite and offer constructive comment and reassurance. Our purpose is to grow, artistically and personally, and to learn what we need to know to get our work published and read.
