Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum provides 2-1/2 hour
round trip train rides between Lenox and Stockbridge. On weekends and
holidays only trains leave Lenox Station at 10 am and 1:30 pm. The 20
mile round trip parallels the Housatonic River and provides a variety of
scenic views.
More information at the museum's web site at
http://www.berkshirescenicrailroad.org. The train consists of a diesel
locomotive and vintage coaches. Lenox station houses a museum of
railroad related items and a gift shop. A new exhibit "The Gateway to
the Gilded Age" provides insight to the "Cottage Era" in the berkshires
through historic glass plate photos from the turn of the last century.
