Citizens for Regional Governance (CRG) was formed in August of 1999, with a mission to promote a viable regional council of governments -- to help implement the wishes of Berkshire citizens who passed the non-binding ballot referendum last November calling for a "stronger, more effective, and more locally controlled" regional government. Question 6 passed in all 32 Berkshire towns and cities with a total 67% of the vote.
Most informed Berkshire citizens know that the Berkshire County Commission will be abolished as of July 1, 2000, but they are in the dark as to what is likely to happen and how they can influence the process. Citizens for Regional Governance believes that we have before us a compelling opportunity to create a new regional structure that can address issues and services that transcend town and city boundaries.
